"I want them to do it because they love it," tells cake boss friend Valastro, who recently collaborated with Kinetic Sand to create their iconic rainbow sand cake.

Buddy Valastro's children followed in his footsteps.

The 45-year-old Cake Boss star, who started working in the bakery at her family business Carlo's, when she was 11, tells news that her children Sofia, 19, Be Junior, 17; Marco, 15; and Carlo, 11 want You to follow a path similar to their father's way.

"They were all eager to join the family business. And I want to do it. "I'm so excited for the next generation to take over," said the New Jersey native, who has teamed up with Kinetic Sand to recreate his iconic rainbow cake in the media for a new video to be released Thursday. "But I never want to force it. I want them to do it because they like it."

Valastro says her children are approaching an age where "they can have those conversations," especially Sofia, who attends the University of Delaware. When Valastro recently asked him what he wanted to do after college, he said, "I want to work with you. I want to run the family business," she recalls. So naturally, Sofia chose to study business administration and hospitality to return smoothly to the Valastro business empire after graduation.

"During COVID, they are working. They help because they don't go to school, and no one wants to work," she said. "So it was just my family doing the online ordering and me. It was pretty intense." Each child brings a different strength to the family business. "Be the most determined – he will never give up. And Marco has a talent for gossip. He's the mayor," he said of his sons.

Valastro says Sofia takes the cake in the decorating department regarding creativity.

A budding baker started helping with cake decorating on Valentine's Day during the college holidays. "He has to make 10,000 cakes. So it's like being there with the team and making 10,000; that's how you get good," he said.

He also helped develop the design of the spring cake with his father, which Valastro says "sells very well" because of the bright colors.
