"I can't wait to get back on stage," said Funny Girl star Beanie Feldstein, whose back-up Julie Benko will take on a role in her absence.

Beanie Feldstein is the latest celebrity to test positive for COVID-19.

The 28-year-old actress announced her diagnosis on Instagram on Monday, explaining that she would not be able to attend the Broadway revival of Funny Girl. She currently stars as a famous comedian and actress, Fanny Bryce.

"I just found out I tested positive for COVID, so, unfortunately, I won't be on the show for a while to protect everyone," Feldstein says in the 20-second clip, wiping his eyes.

He went on to say that he received his vaccine for COVID and a booster vaccine.

"I'm so grateful that I don't feel too bad," he continued. "I was shocked that I couldn't see everyone in the theater. And I can't wait to get back on stage soon." Funny Girl began performing on March 26 at the August Wilson Theater in New York and officially opened on April 24.

"Missed my parents at August Wilson," Feldstein wrote in the caption. "I am very grateful for the vaccine. See you again. With love, Bean."

The production marked the first Funny Girl return to Broadway since its 1964 debut, starring the then-unknown Barbra Streisand. Classical music performances by Jule Stein and Bob Merrill, "People," "I'm the Biggest Star," and "It's Not Raining on My Parade."

Revised script for revival presented by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. This event earned actor Jared Grimes a Tony 2022 nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. Feldstein is already on Broadway, playing Mini Faye in the 2017 revival of Hello, Dolly! But directing a musical is a first for the star of American Crime Story: Impeachment.

She has long called Funny Girl her dream show. "It's a hero, a score and a story that I've loved for as long as I can remember," Feldstein said in a video that premiered by PEOPLE in March. "Like any three-year-old, I asked my mom if my birthday party could be a Funny Girl. It was my first dream.
