What it is: Airbnb's 20th Anniversary Mystery Machine Night from Scooby-Doo
Every kid growing up in the US since 1969 has wondered if it was Fred, Daphne, Velma, or Shaggy. Since I knew for a long time that I was the last, I took the opportunity to review what I experienced and spend the night in the Mystery Machine.
"I've been following Steppe since his live adaptation in 2002, and he's been a part of me ever since," said Lillard, 52. "I can't wait to welcome guests to the world of the Mystery Inc. band as their host on Airbnb and give them a summer vacation they'll never forget… Monsters not included!"
After a leisurely Uber ride on the Pacific Coast, I found myself in a quiet mountain oasis with the Mystery Machine, ready for a night of glamping complemented by heavenly ocean views.
In addition to luxuriously laid out picnic tables and baskets full of delicious food (including Scooby snacks), there's a makeshift outdoor lounge with guitar, board games, a matching CD player, and a Sugar Ray CD as a reference for the musical by the band Miniature.
There are also plenty of likes to get all the fixes for Insta-worthy photo options, including a tricked-out surfboard, a life-size plush Scooby, and a luggage rack to channel your inner Fred, Daphne, Velma, or Steps. There's even a Scooby collar.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Scooby-Doo film adaptation, Airbnb and Warner Bros. offered three lucky nights to three lucky fans in a minibus in the beautiful mountains of Malibu. Hosted by actor Shaggy Matthew Lillard, fans only have to pay $20 for a one-time slumber party and temporary concert with Mystery Inc.
