MTV recently announced plans to reboot The Hills with a new cast, but Patridge said he and his co-stars in The Hills: New Beginnings were "shocked" by the news.
the news of the von Hills reboot picks up Edirne Patridge alum series, surprisingly.
Appearing on TalkShopLive to discuss his new book, Choices: To The Hills and Back Again, Patridge, 37, shared his thoughts on MTV's decision to rejuvenate the franchise with a new and younger cast.
"I can't believe they did this, honestly. We were all shocked. Especially because in The Hills: New Beginnings, we had 14 players, and it was hard to shoot because there were so many people and so much going on," he said.
"So the fact that they have 20 new players, I don't know how they will do it. It will be a jam-packed show." "I was a little nervous, but I think they want a younger generation, and as you get older, you have more responsibilities and take care of your image. And we're not in our twenties anymore, so I think it makes sense to have a new generation of kids. for they will be carefree and wild.
IN MAY, an MTV spokesperson confirmed to news that a new Hills series was in development. According to Deadline, the series, titled The Hills: Next Gen, will "feature a new cast that is expected to be more various than the original."
"The series will follow a close-knit group of twenty friends and aspiring entrepreneurs as they grow up in a very different Los Angeles," the logline wrote. "You will be guided by the realities of race, class, identity, addiction, family drama, and the thrill of romance and self-creation in the exclusive Malibu Hills estate.
"We've all been likes, DMs, and messages; we've been texting each other about what's going on from Instagram, like ads. And we're like, 'Oh my God. I can't believe they updated The Hills, and it's like, 'What- what is this?" he said during the live broadcast. "It's a bit surprising to provide more drama. We're all like mom and dad, and we met and liked each other, a little bit more reserved than we used to be."
Although he thought it would be "weird" to watch the series live without the stars that made it successful, he would join in on seeing the show.
