"I wanted to avoid or something," said the Rizzoli & Isles actress about a possible return to the show... But then, Angie Harmon teased her fans about her possible return to Law and Order!

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, the 49-year-old Baywatch Nights star opened up about wanting to return to the NBC series, which starred in the franchise two decades ago, as her character, ADA Assistant Attorney General Abby Carmichael.

"I wanted to do that," he told ET, noting that show creator Dick Wolfe contacted him while they were working on Season 21, which premieres in February 2022.

I said, "Look, guys. I mean, I want to bow or something," he remembers his reaction to the suggestion. "I want to revisit Abby.

The Rizzoli & Isles actress added that her character is Sam Waterson, who plays District Attorney Jack McCoy on the show, and "just adores and loves this whole group." Earlier this month, NBC announced that Law and Order had been renewed for season 22.

The show follows police investigating crimes and district attorneys prosecuting offenders. It premiered on NBC in 1990, won 50 Emmy nominations in the original series, and starred several high-profile stars, including S. Epata Merkerson, Jeremy Sisto, Jesse L. Martin, and the late Jerry Orbach. The show's popularity trickled down to the franchise, with fan-favorite spinoff Law and Order: Special Victims Unit being a mainstay, currently in its 23rd season. Hosted by Mariska Hargitai, the series will return next year for its 24th season.

Another spinoff, Law, and Order: Organized Crime, premieres in 2021 and brings former SVU star Christopher Meloni back to the franchise.
