Weidhofer's nephew was found dead at his home in Houston, Texas, last month after a family member filed for a social security check.

The Weidhofer family confirmed the news to TMZ on Thursday, saying, "Unfortunately, his nephew took his own life after a some long battle with mental health issues."

The model was found at her home in Houston, Texas after police completed a welfare check requested by the "family member concerned" last month, TMZ reported.

"He is very open about his struggles with his followers; he even wants to help followers who are also suffering," his family told the newspaper.

They added that Weidhofer was "more than their fight."

"She was beautiful and kind, sensitive also funny, creative and talented, generous and compassionate, wise and challenging," her family said.

They continued, "While it is painful to say goodbye, we take comfort in the knowledge that he has been reunited with his father, his three grandparents, his uncle Rusty, and his beloved puff, and he is now free to be himself and finally at peace." Before his death, Weidhofer deleted most of the photos from his Instagram account, which has more than 4.2 million followers.

With his death, his family has started a non-profit organization in his memory called Peace for Nephews, according to TMZ. The non-profit organization will seek to raise mental health awareness and provide grants for mental illness research.
