American actor Kevin Spacey received unconditional bail after appearing in court in London on four counts of sexually assaulting three men.
The 62-year-old also faces a fifth charge for forcing a man to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
He was not asked to justify alleged crimes from 2005 to 2013.
Spacey's next appearance will be on July 14 at Southwark Crown Court to hear his guilty plea and prepare for trial.
Before a brief preliminary hearing, the Hollywood star was directed by his team of lawyers and two police officers through a crowd of photographers and film crews to the entrance to the court.
Mr. Spacey sits on the dock in a light blue suit, dark tie, and glasses. Deputy Chief Justice Tanvir Ikram heard his case. The actor came to court surrounded by a large crowd of cameras and journalists as he tried to enter the building.
In Court 1, Mr. Spacey sits in a light blue suit on the dock. He was asked to stand and give his name, address, and date of birth.
He said his name was Kevin Spacey Fowler, and the court called him Mr. Fowler, although his lawyer called him Mr. spacey.
When asked by the judge if he preferred to call himself Mr. Spacey, the actor gave a small smile, shrugged, and said they were both fine.
The charges have been read. In that first court appearance, he was not asked to plead guilty or not, but his lawyer said he denied any crime.
The judge told him that he would be released on bail. After a court hearing of only half an hour, Mr. Spacey left the building to face the camera again.
