Meta CEO Cheryl Sandberg were among the top tech executives to speak publicly on Friday about the Supreme Court ruling overturning Rowe v. Wade. The decision ended the constitutional right to abortion in the United States, which had existed since 1973.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and many politically outspoken venture capitalists have remained openly silent about the decision.

Elon Musk's Twitter account, which currently has 99.5 million followers, included a May tweet that read, "The birth rate in the United States is below the ~50-year minimum sustainable level."

In September 2021, Musk refused to discuss Texas' strict abortion restrictions, saying he would prefer not to get involved in politics. However, Governor Greg Abbott said Tesla's CEO supported his country's "social policies" at the time. Recently, Musk said he would consider electing Florida Governor DeSantis as president.

The expected cancellation of Roe's lawsuit against Wade gives states the power to make their abortion laws, including an outright ban on all surgical and medical abortions. According to an analysis by the Guttmacher Institute, 26 states should strictly, if not wholly, ban abortion following the ruling.

Abortion bans in Louisiana, Missouri, Kentucky, also South Dakota take effect immediately.

When abortion is not legal or affordable, people face health risks that, in some cases, can be fatal. For example, a 31-year-old dentist named Savita Halapanavar died of blood poisoning in Ireland in 2012 after being negated an abortion during a miscarriage. A movement arose after his death, and Ireland later changed its laws to allow legal abortion.
