Burger King team member Kevin Ford went viral - and caught the attention of Saturday Night Live alum David Spade - with TikTok for a worthless 27th birthday present.

A Burger King team member's story of a flashy gift to mark a significant anniversary of their partnership with the fast-food chain first caught the attention of the internet - then comedian David Spade.

Earlier this week, Kevin Ford, 54, celebrated 27 years as chef and cashier at Burger King at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. According to Ford, he was a very loyal team member who never took a day off.

Parent company HMS Host showed appreciation for his service by giving him gifts -- a movie ticket, a Starbucks glass, a few Live Savers, a bag of Reese's Pieces, and a few other items wrapped in a clear plastic backpack.

The gesture was quickly criticized on social media for how hilarious it was. Ford's viral TikTok was flooded with comments attacking the company, but consumers noted its positivity and gratitude even after receiving a bag of goodies. Ford's daughter ended up setting up a GoFundMe to raise money as a unique way to celebrate a milestone in her career.

"He started working as a single father when he took custody of my older sister and me 27 years ago. Then as our family grew and she remarried, she continued to work [sic] here because of the amazing health insurance this employer offers because it is a union," Serena wrote on her fundraising page. "Yang also sends her four daughters to college with full health insurance.

"My father continues to work here because, even though he looks young, he is approaching retirement age, and leaving him would see him retire." "We don't want money in any way, nor does he expect money, but if someone wants to bless him, he is happy to visit his grandchildren.
