"Your excuses are so stupid," Danny Roberts said of the producers of The Real World Homecoming's decision to halt his HIV journey from last season.

The 44-year-old Real World Homecoming star told the Los Angeles Times that there was "so much to unravel" about her battle with HIV as she spoke after the producers of the Paramount+ reboot removed mention of her diagnosis.

"I kept waiting, 'Are you going to do this?' And then I realized, "Wow, this is the end." And they cut it," he said. "It feels like a huge missed opportunity." Paramount+ and Bunim/Murray Productions did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the news.

He was diagnosed with HIV around 2011 and announced his status in 2018 before reuniting with his New Orleans co-stars for the third season of Homecoming, which aired its finale last month.

"So much of what I talked about after New Orleans was the nightmare of our healthcare system, the nightmare of lack of access, costs, and the incredible weakness of this drug [which can prevent and treat HIV]. There's so much to unpack," added Roberts.

Roberts recalls talking to a producer who told him the storyline had been cut due to legal issues in which one of his former partners would be involved. "Their excuses are so stupid. I couldn't believe it for a second," he said, adding that "the final decision has been made that Circus Julie is more important to them."

A representative for Bunim/Murray Productions told the LA Times that since The Real World was first presented in 1992, the company "has never been shy about sharing stories about HIV and AIDS."
