According to people familiar with the matter, Alicia Bohler-Davis, senior vice president of global customer service and member of the company's executive team, and David Bozeman, vice president of Amazon Transportation Services, will be leaving the company. Both are among some of the company's senior black executives. Amazon has made strides in diversity in its leadership roles in recent years, but according to the company, by the end of 2021, only 5.5 percent of its top executives were black.

The latest departure comes after Amazon announced earlier this month that Worldwide Consumer CEO Dave Clark would be stepping down on July 1. On Tuesday, Amazon CEO Andy Jesse announced that longtime Amazon CEO Doug Herrington would become the new CEO of Amazon Stores Worldwide.

Jassi also said Amazon changed the name of the consumer business to Amazon Stores, adding that it would also lead the task force under one leader, John Felton.

Boehler-Davis and Bozeman "decided to explore new opportunities outside the Amazon," according to an email from Felton verified by CNBC.

Boehler-Davis, who joined Amazon in 2019 from General Motors, is a contender for Felton's job. He was "an extraordinary and influential leader at an unprecedented time," Felton said in an email. He is also the only black member of Amazon's S-Team, which leads the company.

The Bozeman Division oversees transportation, including minibusses and flexible drivers.

"Dave has been with Amazon for over 5 years and has helped accelerate the expansion of Amazon Transport, especially during Covid," Felton said in an email. "He has played an main role in building and growing our medium-haul network and setting us on the path to success."

Felton's email said he wanted to "bring the team together" and "organize the team around security, law enforcement centers, transportation, emerging markets, robotics, supply chain technology, and global transportation."
